Stimulus Spending by County
Based on an analysis of currently available data and funds that have been awarded to date, the New York State Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Cabinet currently estimates that over two years New York State’s counties stand to benefit from an estimated $18 billion in available American Recovery and Reinvestment Act spending. This includes Recovery Act spending that is administered by New York State as well as spending that flows directly from federal agencies to local governments, institutions, and individuals. The database is based on information that the State has been able to capture to date and covers programs for which actual distribution is known or can be estimated. Because certain ARRA funds are still being awarded and distributed, this report will be updated periodically to reflect new awards.

The table below gives examples from five counties and New York City of the relative size of different parts of stimulus spending. All the amounts are two-year projections, except for education which includes only the current year and Pell grants, which includes only grants actually awarded.
